Wow, they are “Car Ready”. Sweet!

Every time I see a Buick Rendezvous it reminds me of this button under the screen, and I want to press it.
In any case MiniDiscs are great.

I have a Creative Nomad Zen MP3 player I got in 2003 I still use today. People at the gym look at me funny when I fiddle with it. It still works and I can still add songs to it!
The other day I was on the treadmill and looked at an adapter on the treadmill for the TV. It fit the bottom of my Zen! I wanted to laugh, but everyone would’ve thought I was crazier than what they originally thought. It is now my favorite treadmill.
On top of that, my sister got my older Zen when I ‘upgraded’ to my new one in 2003. She recently broke her ipod and dug the old Zen out of a box. It cranked right up and had circa 2000s songs ready to go!

Maybe I’ll use them in the car now that the CD player on my Mustang no longer works.

I still have this and all the peripherals somewhere:

I want to try the MiniDisc stuff. I never really got to try it back when it was popular.

I’ll store the CD Walkman on my backpack when using it. I’ll look kind of stupid walking with a portable CD player in your hand in 2015.

It looks very cool. What is that thing between the usb cable and the 3.5mm cable?

I had one. They were great in the sense that they held many more songs than CDs (at least in non-MP3 format) and didn’t skip. But the moment iPods became popular, they were obsolete.

That was an adapter for the Line In. The MD didn’t have a USB port but could record through a Mic In 3.5mm socket. So: Comp>USB>adapter>3.5mm cable>Mic/Line In.
There also was a fairly comprehensive in line remote that was included that is not pictured here.

It’s the USB to headphone adapter they used, to pretend you could hook them into your PC and copy songs onto them faster than if you were recording to a cassette. If I recall, it didn’t really make much of a difference (if any).

I had a Creative Muvo TX MP3 player in high school!
It held 256 whole Megabytes of songs! It was amazing.
What I loved about it was that the white part came out and it was exactly like a USB stick. The larger section held 1 AAA battery that lasted for about 1.5 - 2 weeks with decent usage IIRC. Using rechargeable batteries was the best!!

That is a cool design!
My Zen has a color screen and I think it can get radio. It is a brick and roughly the same size as my phone. The adapter to hook in the USB slot could fool most high school kids today. But I know it is theft proof as no one knows what it is and I can show them the recharge slot which requires the adapter they will never find!
This thing even has a A/C adapter to recharge it (once you hook in the adapter).

That’s amazing! It’s the manual transmission of MP3 players.
Is Creative still doing innovative things such as these? I bought 2.1 speaker system for my computer roughly 10 years ago. They just went out a few months ago.
They went through a total of 3 computers and were used daily throughout high school and college!
They also had pretty good sound for ~$100! I’d totally buy the exact same model again.
I’m going to browse their website for giggles.

So just an external sound card?

Yeah, of sorts.

Y’know, I never thought of it that way. It might work for that? In theory it was supposed to allow for faster copying, but I didn’t own that generation of MD player, so I don’t know how well it really worked. Incidentally, I think have about eleventy old MDs laying around, if you want ‘em.

Hey, that would be awesome. How could we work that out?

Let me double check that I didn’t throw them out when I was cleaning. If they’re still there, I’ll put my email address in a comment here, and we can arrange shipping details...
